"If your story is authored by your wounds, then it's time for you to heal. Through Intensive Trauma Therapy, you can be liberated to live a free, vibrant life- now. Trauma changes how we experience life, how we view ourselves, others, and the world around us. It is the common denominator in the lives of many, but it doesn't need to be."
I was recently interviewed by Dr. Kate Henry, an incredible Naturopathic Doctor in the Philadelphia area to discuss EMDR therapy intensives and the intensive model and the amazing results that I have been seeing over the past year.
This is a great way to learn more about the ins and outs of this highly effective model of trauma-healing treatment!
Intensive Trauma Therapy is a tailored healing experience built specifically for your needs, your life and your story. Intensives are personally designed to promote freedom and change in your life, replacing the effects that trauma has had on your life with change that will liberate you from your past, restore the joy to your present, and instill hope in your future. EMDR Therapy Intensives treat more than just PTSD. Clients also need to process what didn't happen along with what did. Intensives utilize evidence-based treatment focused through the lens of EMDR, allowing for healing to occur in the way you need, not just in a way that works.
Intensives are an advanced form of trauma treatment integrating EMDR therapy within a unique framework utilized to tailor change to the needs of the individual. Intensive trauma therapy is designed for anyone with past experiences that hold them back from living full, peaceful lives due to symptoms that correspond to past trauma and developmental wounds. These may include: Anxiety, Depression, Flashbacks, Adverse Memories, Anger, Behavioral Issues, Phobias, Panic, Addiction, Dissociation, Sexual Issues, Identity Issues, Relationship Issues, Family Issues, Shame, Guilt, Self-Esteem Issues, Eating Disorders, Codependence, and Grief and PTSD.
(Yes, trauma is at the root!)
While traditional forms of trauma therapy are often effective, Intensive trauma therapy allows you to experience profound growth and change in a single day. Trauma healing intensives are also a specialized form of advanced trauma and PTSD treatment that is difficult to provide in a traditional therapeutic setting. There are eight phases of a Trauma Healing Intensive
Phase 1: Consult. We will have an initial consult for introductions, questions, and to make sure intensive trauma therapy is right for you. We will also schedule your intensive. Based on recommendations, this may be a four-hour block, and eight-hour block or a series of intensive trauma therapy blocks over the course of an agreed-upon timeline.
Phase 2: Consent. Following scheduling, you will be provided with detailed consent forms to sign, and we will go over any questions you may have.
Phase 3: Assessment. You will complete assessments prior to your intensive to assist in the tailored planning process.
Phase 4: Meet. We will meet (remotely or in-person) for your intensive and collaborate to establish our trajectory for the day.
Phase 5: Prepare. You will be outfitted with skills to help you promote a sense of safety, control and freedom to help you during and after we process trauma. Preparation mirrors the EMDR modality to help prepare you for processing trauma. These resources are powerful and unique to each person, and many clients experience transformation in this stage alone!
Phase 6: Process. We will systematically and creatively process trauma together, using EMDR, helping you to move forward through the effects of trauma, and to experience profound change.
Phase 7: Celebrate. We will celebrate your growth and change together, and we will work to project that growth into the future!
Phase 8: Commission. We will prepare you for living out the rhythms of recovery, discuss options for follow-up. We will then commission you to continue to live in freedom. Following the intensive, you will have options for after-care, and we will close our intensive by creating a plan for your continued growth.
I was recently on an episode of The Love Fix, where you’ll learn the latest tools on how to heal from Codependency and toxic relationships, navigate dating and how to thrive in a successful relationship. This episode is about Developmental Wounds and How EMDR Can Help Heal Trauma.
